Random thoughts......

Random things that I'm thinking about today:

  • I really did NOT want to go to the gym this morning. I had the little war in my head and guess who won? I DID. I went to the gym and I RAN despite not wanting to. I WILL finish this C25K. I WILL!
  • Attention young woman on the treadmill in front of me: Your boobs were screaming in agony the whole time you were running today. I heard them myself through the gym noise AND the headphones. For goodness sakes...GET a better bra...... Today.
  • Isn't it weird how you get in a routine and you just do things out of habit? I use the same locker at the gym every time. I use the same shower stall. Today, MY shower was taken. Screwed up my whole shower mojo. Almost forgot my shampoo!
  • I'm about to take my little beautiful nearly 6 year old going on 40 girl OUT.  We're having issues with being polite and respectful.  So last night she comes in my room. I had got the girls their dinner and then ran to my room to set the Tivo for the Cowboys game.  She walks in, puts her hand on her hip and says in a very snotty tone, "AND....WHY did you not get my MILK?"  Uh hem......deep breath.....I simply looked at her and then went back to what I was doing. I completely ignored her until she caught on, apologized and then asked SWEETLY if I would please get her some milk. Oh lord. Imagine what 13 is going to look like.
  • I attended my first TKD class today in 2 weeks. I was out a week on vacation and then last week I had strep. Wooo doggies. My buns hurt from all those kicks. AND the Master decided we needed to do EXTRA crunches and push ups. Someone please pass the Motrin.
  • Contrary to your belief, no matter what your uncle, brother, cousin, next door neighbor, OR your next door neighbor's 2nd cousin thinks, you may NOT need that medication that they take and just because you come in my office and ask for that medicine doesn't mean it is medically indicated.  I'm a doctor, not a drug dealer.
  • I'm really overwhelmed trying to figure out which new TV shows are worthy of my attention and which are not. Any recommendations are welcome. My Tivo is working overtime.........BTW.....I love you Tivo!
  • Attention Cowboys: FOUR bad snaps in ONE game is pathetic and, quite frankly, painful to watch.  I know your receivers are young (Thank you, Jerry for no depth in the roster) but for the love of GOD, it is NOT that hard to know where to line up. AND...Felix Jones.....the point of running the ball when you're ahead and there are just under 2min in the game is to RUN OUT THE CLOCK. Running out of bounds STOPS the clock. And finally.....I'm glad you won.....now do it again......that is all.
  • Eating that fiber bar yesterday for lunch seemed like such a good idea at the time. I mean...I wasn't very hungry and I wanted something simple. And then there was the FIBER part and the resulting trips to the BR. Nuff said.
  • It really annoys me when they cancel a show you really love before they finish the dang story line. How annoying. Similarly, there are a LOT of bloggers that just disappear one day. One day they are blogging and I'm enjoying getting to know them and commenting and they're commenting on my blog and it's awesome and then....they are gone. It is disturbing. Do. Not. Do. That......Please.
  • There are a lot of people reading my blog (THANKS, BTW!) and I'm not sure who all of you are. If I'm not reading your blog yet, please leave me a comment. I love finding new blogs.  Why? Unfortunately, please see above statement. PLUS, the more I read about you guys and comment on your blogs, the less I want to eat. It's all about me, you know?

  1. My aunt made a cute comment about kids once. She said you should pinch their heads off when they are born. :-) She had three lively boys. Congratulations on winning the battle with yourself regarding the exercising. You go girl.

  2. I'm not going anywhere -- this iteration of my blog started in 2006 and in spite of a few drier spells, posting-wise, it's still going strong 5 years later.

The young woman with the lack of decent support is going to SO regret that when she's our age. Heck, simply due to living (including 2 pregnancies and subsequent breastfeeding) my formerly impresive parts are heading south in a dead heat. Imagine if I'd not been close to sedentary!

As for the kids... yeah. I hear ya. And at times I am grateful I have only boys because I remember myself at age 15 and it was brutal.

  3. Good for you for going to the gym even when you didn't want to. I'm going to try and take inspiration from you and go to my dance class tonight, even though I'm not feeling it right now. :)

  4. Very funny recap of the Cowboys, Doc. That game must have been hard for you to watch. I've never seen center/QB exchange problems like that.

I have Tony Romo's helmet mic transcript from pretty much every play: "Shotgun formation...Move over, dude!...No, your other left!...Set!...Down!...(snap)...WTF man?"

Unfortunately, the Iggles have their own problems.

  5. Kudos for winning and getting to the gym.

I know just what you mean about blogger reductions. Its like losing a friend, well virtually a friend. Weight loss is hard and long journey. Dang it! I will never give up!

I can not imagine the Vikes will climb out of the cellar. we are 0-3. Bahooo. At least we got the Lynx to cheer about! They are fabulous!

  6. I love your blog. I think you're hilarious...I laughed my ass off about the people coming into your office for a medication that their aunts cousin's daughters husbands brother is taking...I'm a nurse and I constantly am shown rashes, lumps, bumps, bruises and asked all sorts of insane questions because afterall, I am a nurse and I know everything under the sun...feel free to visit my blog at any time (btw I have a giveaway planned for when i hit 75 followers and am only at 71!)...Look forward to your next post

  7. When you fight with yourself, it might be said that you always lose.
But hey - you always win, too!
    Awesome!

  9. That war in the head can be a doozy - glad you won! Oh, and I have "my" lane at the pool and "my" stall in the gym bathroom. That's not weird, right? ;)

Your girl sounds like a pip!

My DVR can't handle Tuesdays what with BL, Glee, and DWTS results. I actually have to watch LIVE TV if I want to see it all. The horror!

  10. I so was going to ask about what new shows too! We have two Tivos. Long story that has to do with our old one dying, getting a new one, and my husband figuring out how to replace the hard drive in the first one. Some hours we have all 4 tuners recording! We are trying out a lot of shows. Hard to tell so early but we are liking: Ringer, Unforgettable, Person of Interest, and I can't remember what else. The situation comedies are not impressing me much. How did we ever live without recorded TV?!

  11. Great recap! We don't have tivo, but use our DVR all the time. I don't know what we did without it.

  12. LOL! I have a child like your 6YO - he's now 14 and the attitude is still a major source of frustration. Seriously? There are three kids ahead of him who must have used up all my good kid genes!

Glad to see you back, and glad you hit the gym.

  13. Doc, I don't understand why you are hassling that poor young woman on the treadmill. My vote would be to let her just be herself. (And what are her workout hours?)

  14. You always entertain me with your wit! Nip that attitude before it gets too far gone - kids!

Glad you are feeling better and back to the exercise routine.

  15. OMG how funny about your daughter! Sounds like the teenage years are going to be a real bear! Good luck with that! As for tv shows...Two Broke Chicks was kind of funny. Jury is still out on Whitney. Modern Family & Big Bang Theory seem to be just as good as past years. If you don't watch them, give them a try!

  17. Well done for making it to the gym AND running! :)
Isn't it amazing how quickly you can get used to having 'your' spot at the gym -- I know it's like that at exercise classes. If a newbie comes in a bit earlier and takes your spot ... death stares all around!

I'm so glad I came across your blog!
