On Sunday I think I finally felt that "rush" that you get when you are pushing yourself. That feeling is new to me and for now I know it will help me to get on again and again. A missed day here and there is just life. No one is perfect, which is why consistency is important, and you are fairly consistent. Typically that involves staring out the gym window or daydreaming in my head. See, I had a lot of practice when I was younger; my mom would sit me down to have "I have a bone to pick with you" talks that would often last 10, 12, 14, even 16 hours. Ample time to learn to zone out, stare at the wall, transport yourself to another time and place. So when the gym gets tough, I try to send myself off to that safe zoned-out place. I can't explain how to do it...either you can or can't.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187183342257251495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3245684570480082037.post-23971335294946085082010-08-22T09:43:10.211-07:002010-08-22T09:43:10.211-07:00I love when other runners are encouraging! Friday morning I felt like a gazelle. Today? A bit of a moose. Who knows...I keep blaming it on the heat and humidity, lol. The important thing is that at least we are getting out there and doing our best. Which is way more than we used to, right? One of these weekends I'll be up in your neck of the woods (visiting my kids at UNT) and we'll have to meet up for a run.Shelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09268130692900152965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3245684570480082037.post-42252615550836738972010-08-22T05:30:27.995-07:002010-08-22T05:30:27.995-07:00I don't run but wonder the same thing about bi...I don't run but wonder the same thing about biking. Since my scale has become more stingy with the pounds it gives up, I'm trying to focus more on my fitness level to stay on track and make sure there's still progress of some sort out there.

My Saturday was terrifyingly productive, and I even managed to scrape myself onto the elliptical for 20 minutes followed by 40 minutes at 5-6% incline on the treadmill. Then we had burgers for dinner (93% lean beef); the boys had tater tots and broccoli, and I had broccoli with 4 tater tots. It was just enough :)

Sounds like you did a great job in spite of those life circumstances that kept trying to bite you. I've had days similar to that... there's a reason my colorist sees me as often as she does. You kick butt all the time and if you are sore, it may not be the worst idea. I thought you should know, I have to have to have to read your blog everyday. It helps me stay right. My motivation is silly, but it seems to work. I keep track of my personal record time, and I brag to my seven year old if I break it. So even if I'm tired, I try desperately to set a new PR!Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04888756691880720529noreply@blogger.com
